It’s trimester 5 of 6! Time has absolutely flown by, however there’s still plenty of work that needs to be done… This trimester is Studio III so again we have to design a major project to execute over the next 12 weeks, this time I will be replacing the scores, ADR, foley and sound FX to four vastly different scenes from international films! “That’s a massive task Jess!” they all say, and yes guys yes it is… However I am endeavouring to produce what I have pitched with the help of Tayla Roberts and Jackson Martin, below is a quick overview of my key deliverables this trimester as well some screen shots of the scene that we all know to well… well I hope you know them!
Sound design and score composition has always been something that I’ve thoroughly enjoyed and that is why I’ve decided to take on this challenge. Essentially my ultimate goal is to have at least one if not two of these scenes mixed in surround sound, as this is an element that we are studying over the course of the trimester. Firstly we have our ADR focused scene from ‘The Lord of the Rings and The Two Towers’ this is when Smeagol and Gollum are conversing while the hobbits are sleeping, we have arranged for a special voice actor to play the voice of our Smeagol and Gollum. Secondly we’ve got a scene from the iconic ‘Titanic’ this one is heavily compositional based ideally my goal is to make a score so beautiful it will still make you cry, CHALLENGE…. Thirdly we have a composition and sound FX based scene from the hilarious ‘Zombieland’ we all the scene when Woody Harrelson jumps into a kids toy game at the carnival and defeats the wave of zombies that are coming for him, this is our second scene we’d like to mix in surround sound as well as our final piece! Which is, ‘The Lion King’ a childhood favourite we will be taking the famously known stampede/Mufasa’s death scene and writing a completely new score and replacement of all ADR, foley and sound FX. It’s going to be a massive trimester!
Stay tuned for more updates throughout the trimester!
